Organised by Blaydon Harrier and Athletic Club under UK Athletics Laws at 7.15pm on Saturday 9 JUNE from Balmbras, Cloth Market, Newcastle upon Tyne along Collingwood Street and Scotswood Road past Armstrong’s Factory and over Scotswood Bridge to finish by “THE GEORDIE RIDLEY” in Blaydon Precinct from about 7.40pm (5.7 miles)

THE GEORDIE AWARDS
To the First three local lads and lasses £500, £300 and £200. Awards are designed to encourage local athletics and will only be awarded to 1st claim members of clubs listed in the NE section of the NoEAA handbook 2008. Awards will replace the prize which the runner would have won except in the case of a local runner winning either 1st or 2nd prize in which case the Geordie award will pass down to the next NE runner.

THE BONNY BLAYDON BELLE. A lady competitor will be selected at the start to wear the BLAYDON BELLE SASH during the race. She will receive a superb meal for two at the Cowshill Hotel in Upper Weardale.
ALL RUNNERS
Will receive a Commemorative Certificate, Tee-shirt, Souvenir Programme, Beer, Local Food, Crisps and soft drink. Many will receive spot prizes.. The Results edition of the Journal Newspaper will be sent to all entrants.

4. The race will be broadcast live on BBC Radio Newcastle 95.4 FM.
- The Kiddars Blaydon Fun Run, for youngsters from local schools, will take place at Blaydon before the Race
- Race Numbers must only be worn by Original Entrants and Impersonators should be aware that a race video is available to organisers and that offenders will be reported to the Athletics Authorities. Those unable to compete may have their entry carried over to next year if they inform the Organiser by 22nd May (admin fee £5 will replace the 2009 basic race entry fee).
- The Race Charity is GRACE HOUSE NORTH EAST CHILDREN’S HOSPICE APPEAL which will provide a home from home for very sick children in the north east. It will provide support for siblings and parents, respite and terminal care; dedicated professionals offering the most up-to-date medical skills and palliative care; support for the needs of the whole family, physical and emotional. 8 There’ll be Music and Dance at the Start, along the course and at the Finish and the funnels will be graced by Hazel Rayson’s Can-Can Troupe.
9 Full results will be published in the Journal on June 17th and a copy will be posted to the address given on the entry form of all entrants.
10 The course is unsuitable for wheelchair competitors.
